Forgive me for plugging this on here as it isn't a very local event (but does concern an ex-local girl).
My daughter Sue's eldest child was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was thirteen, which means, unless a cure is found in his lifetime, he will have to inject himself with insulin several times every day for the rest of his life. He copes well with it, and is otherwise fit, healthy and sporty. He and his mum are running the Bath half-marathon on 7th March (4 days before his 17th birthday), to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. Sue has already run the London marathon for this cause.
If anyone feels like making a donation (and I know times are hard and money is tight and there are lots of claims for charity) here is a link to their Just Giving page. Any amount, however small, would be much appreciated for the cause to find a cure for this increasingly diagnosed auto-immune disease.
Thanks for reading (if you have!! )
